Here is an account of what one of these sewing machines meant to a North Dakota family.


My mother tells me that they had a machine like this years ago. Aunt Lil' was sewing with it, and accidentally put a needle through her finger. My grandfather came to her aid and called for some whiskey to sterilize the wound. He took a swig of the whiskey, then pulled the needle out.
